Holophonix

Amadeus

Holophonix is an immersive sound processor for live spatialisation, available as a hardware processor (up to 512 I/O on the Ultra model) and as Holophonix Native for macOS. It implements 13 spatialisation algorithms including Higher Order Ambisonics, Wave Field Synthesis, VBAP, VBIP, k-Nearest Neighbor, and Binaural, used in theatre, concert, museum, and broadcast contexts.

History & Background

Developed by Amadeus (France) in collaboration with the IRCAM-STMS Lab (Sciences et Technologies de la Musique et du Son), founded 1995. Co-designed by Michel Deluc, Thierry Coduys, Guillaume Jacquemin, and Johan Lescure. The free Holophonix Designer offline editor is also available for session preparation. Used at Festival d'Avignon, Comédie Française, Panthéon Paris, Beijing Stadium, ETH Zurich and other institutions.
