APL Virtuoso is a commercial binaural rendering plug-in and standalone application that virtualises stereo and immersive loudspeaker setups (up to 26 channels, including Atmos 9.1.6 and Ambisonic layouts up to Lebedev grids) within acoustically modelled listening rooms. History & Background

Developed by Applied Psychoacoustics Laboratory (APL), founded in 2013 by Prof Hyunkook Lee, Director of the Centre for Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering at the University of Huddersfield (UK). Originally launched May 2023; v2 released October 2024 with virtual-room acoustic emulation, expanded HRTF sets, and 10-band parametric EQ. Available as Plug-ins (USD 199), Standalone (USD 149), or Bundle (USD 299). iLok-protected.
