ambiX is an open-source cross-platform suite of Ambisonic VST and LV2 plug-ins for variable-order Ambisonic production, including encoder, decoder, binaural decoder, converter, rotator, mirror, warp, max-rE weighting, virtual microphone, and a 6DoF transformation plug-in. It is used for Ambisonic composition, binaural monitoring, and spatial sound-field manipulation in DAWs such as Reaper and Ardour.

History & Background

Developed by Matthias Kronlachner during his master's thesis at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) Graz. Implements the ambiX (ACN/SN3D) channel ordering and normalization convention. Built with the JUCE framework and intended as a companion suite to the mcfx multichannel plug-ins by the same author.
